The odd thing I found in the Workshop Manual is, that should a DPF regen not happen in time due to sensors, the car should invoke a regen based on mileage run since the last regen. It has done 1317 miles since the last regen, so you'd have thought that on my run to Dublin it would have taken the opportunity. My X-Type 2.2D went through 4 EGR valves in the time I had it (0-130k miles). It was a known issue and every one was covered by Jaguar. Now, it had no DPF but when the EGR valve stuck it either wouldn't start or started to hunt if it was running. So perhaps that's the valve they replaced.

They also completed the 60k service and detailed the pretty thing back to her previous glory. A failed turbo at 59k miles seems premature by any standards.

I've managed to drive both the 2 litre R Sport XF and a 3 litre V6 XJ, as I wanted to experience both engines. I have to say the V6 is much the smoother power unit and it didn't appear to give me the kick in the back that the 2-litre turbo did. However, it was difficult to open it up on the road I was on. So, to my question. Works well. Able to diagnose and reset the ABS & traction warning lights on my Jaguar XF. It was really easy in fact and will keep the kit in my glovebox for any future occasions.
